KANAKO

Owner, Stylist, Colorist & Extensionist

Kanako entered the beauty industry in 2005 and has been a certified hairstylist since 2010. She has undergone various training sessions locally and participated in a Wella Color Master course in LA. Additionally, she holds certification as a Bellami Pro Extensionist. Committed to growth, she consistently attends online and educational classes, enriching her skills over the years. Her passion for major transformations aligns seamlessly with her thriving career in this industry.

ISABELLE

Stylist, Colorist & Extensionist

Isabelle is a hairstylist with over five years in the industry. She loves working with her clients to find colour and cuts that not only look amazing but fits their individual personality and lifestyle. Outside of the salon, Isabelle is continuing her hair education by going to classes and shows as well as spending lots of time outside around the Vancouver area.

CLEO

Stylist, Colorist & Extensionist

Cleo started her hair journey in 2006 and trained as a colour specialist in Europe by Toni&Guy. She opened her own salon in Ireland before travelling and settling in Canada. Cleo has been seeing clients in Yaletown the last six years before moving here to KKo hair studio. She is a Pro Bellami extensionist. Blondes and balayage, soft natural colours are her speciality.

SHANA

Stylist/Colorist

Shana's journey in the beauty industry unfolds with a backdrop of international expertise, showcasing her commitment to excellence. Armed with certifications as a Blanche MacDonald color specialist and hairstylist, her passion for her work keeps her at the forefront of industry trends, delivering exceptional results. With Shana you will always leave with a smile and satisfaction.

NIKKI

Stylist/Colorist/Extensionist

Nikki started her career as a hair stylist over a decade ago after graduating John Casablanca Institute. With multiple certifications in colour cutting and extensions, Nikki now focuses her spotlight solely on hair extensions. Nikki is a master extensionist, renowned for her expertise and dedication to creating stunning hair extension transformations. Specializing in a variety of extension techniques, Nikki's passion makes her a sought-after artist for those looking to elevate their look with luxurious transformations.

JOREY

Stylist/Colorist/Extensionist

Jorey has been a dedicated hairstylist for nearly 20 years, offering a wide range of services including men's cuts, updos, and color corrections. Specializing in color and all types of extensions, Jorey takes great pride in making clients look and feel their best.

Full Highlights

Include lightened sections all over from the top of your head to the nape of your neck and sides. This method can produce heavy and dramatic highlights or soft and subtle looks too.

Partial (Half) Highlights

The Highlights usually placed on the entire top ​half or the top and side sections of your head.

Solid Root Touch Up

(1 color) A 1" root touch-up the application of hair dye to the roots of the hair, to conceal the fact that hair has grown out. This will enable your hair color to not only last longer but also continue to look fresh and beautiful. Root Touch ups are done to either Darken your regrowth, for 100% Grey Coverage or to Bump the natural color of your hair by 2-3 shades.

Base Color & Full Highlight

This is a combination of Solid Root touch up and Full head Highlights. After the Highlights are put in, you may do a root color in between or pull the color through to the ends of the hair that is left out of the foils.

Base Color & Partial Highlight

This is a combination of Solid Root touch up and Partial Highlights. After the Highlights are put in, you may do a root color in between or pull the color through to the ends of the hair that is left out of the foils.

All Over Color

This refers to an all-over application of hair color, which processes and then is done.

Face Framing Highlights

Face-framing highlights aka money piece hair is a popular colouring technique in which colour (usually, a brighter shade than your natural hue!) is strategically placed around the hairline for an instant brightening and framing effect.

Solid Bleach Out (Global Blonding or Platinum Card)

A technique in which we foil every piece of hair on a client's head to achieve a platinum or all-over lighter color result without any dimension in between. A Global Blonding or Platinum card is essentially a modern version of bleach and tones.

Bleach Retouch

It's retouching the grown root from a previous bleach/blonding service. Bleach retouch differs from root touch up because bleach is needed, which makes it more complicated. Must be done every 4-6 weeks to prevent breakage and banding.

Toner

A demi-color that helps you correct or personalise your colour. It is used to neutralize unwanted tones, add natural or more visible tones after a professional colour treatment. As a result, it enhances the tonality of your hair.

Grey Blending

Basically, it's like gray camouflage. It's a low maintenance color technique that hides the gray by adding in other colors that are similar to your hair's natural shade. This way it appears less gray, silver or white and creates a smoother transition to these lighter shades.

Balayage

Balayage is a highlighting technique that doesn't use foils. Instead, your hair colorist will hand-paint color directly onto your hair, creating more natural, blended, sun-kissed color.

Foilyage

A hair technique similar to the Balayage, Hairstylists apply hair coloring by a sweeping technique, painting on your hair. Then like traditional hair highlights, sections of hair are wrapped in foil to create more lift.

Ombre

Ombre is the French word for "colour that is shaded or graduated in tone. So the Ombre effect is more of a two tone hair colour. It is usually darker (or natural) at the roots and the dark shade blends into a lighter color however there is a distinct difference between roots and ends.

Fashion Color

Semi-permanent treatments that naturally fade with time. Bright colors will fade from the hair within 4-8 weeks, while soft pastel tones can fade in 1-2 weeks. Most of the vibrant colors will fade from your hair little by little each wash.

Lowlights

Simply put, highlights are dyed or bleached sections that are lighter than your natural hair color or base hair color, while lowlights are darker, which adds depth or dimension back into the hair.

Root Shadow

Root shadowing is a low-maintenance hair color technique in which a darker shade is applied directly to the roots giving a soft, seamless contrast. It's a great way to refresh your look and give your hair color depth and dimension.

Root Melt

A color application technique that blends the root color with highlights or balayage tones. The purpose of this technique is to make the base color look like it is “melting” into the other tones in the hair. This will make the regrowth softer giving you a low-maintenance color.

Extension Consultation

All hair extension inquiries are done through an in person consultation so we can see which method will be best for your hair. The cost of the extensions and installation varies depending on the method and how much hair is needed for your desired look. A non-refundable deposit must be made for extension orders. 

Complimentary

Beaded Volume Weft

A type of hair extension where the hair is sewn into a horizontal strip, which is called a weft. Your stylist will create a row of micro beads and then the weft is sewn onto the track of beads. (Maintenance is every 4-6 weeks)

Tape ins

A type of hair extension that is roughly 1"-1.5" wide piece with a unique polyurethane adhesive tape that will lay under a thin veil of hair ontop. Then a second piece is applied directly on top of the tape in, "sandwiching" the natural hair in between. Guests with thinner hair have the option to use only a single tape in with a single sided tape which will create a realistic and natural density.

K-tips

AKA Keratin protein tips, are individual extensions applied to the natural hair using a hot fusion technique. They use a silicone additive to help protect strands from damage by creating a coating, while allowing for free movement and a naturally layered texture. (Lasts up to 3 months)

I-tips

Are installed with a strand by strand application without using heat or glue. Application is achieved by threading each I-Tip and a strand of the client's hair into the loop tool, through a looping micro bead and then attached by clamping the bead to the client's hair. (Maintenance is every 4-6 weeks)

Invisible No Show Weft

Are just what they sound like, hair extensions that are completely discrete and invisible. You can wear invisible hair extensions in any style and in any situation and they will not show the beads. (Maintenance is every 4-6 weeks)

Handtied Weft

Are exactly what they sound like! The hair is woven together by hand by an actual person by hand, giving each weft custom attention; creating the absolute thinnest weft possible! They are SO seamless because they are hand made and extremely flat, making them good for those with fine or thin hair. They are installed the same way as Beaded Volume Weft or Invisible No Show Weft. (Maintenance is every 4-6 weeks)

Deep Conditioning Treatment

Can help prevent damage to the hair through moisture, texture and penetration of the hair shaft. It helps prevent breakages and split ends, and even for hair that isn't specifically damaged in the first place, it will help maintain overall health.

Cezanne Smoothening Kertain Treatment

A frizz fighting smoothing treatment designed to leave the hair soft, silky and manageable. It tames unruly and hard to manage curls without completely loosing them, and cuts blow-dry time down by anywhere from 30-50%!. (Lasts up to 5 months)

Nioxin Scalp Renew

An anti-aging scalp dermabrasion treatment to help regenerate and revitalize scalp skin through exfoliation. Acting like a scalp facial, this Nioxin Dermabrasion Treatment is exclusively for in-salon use. Experience scalp exfoliation that removes build-up on the scalp to restore it to a good condition. This scalp dermabrasion also helps accelerate skin surface regeneration.

Olaplex Treatment

A bond builder that is added into lighteners or hair colors. These bonds give the hair its structure, strength and stability. When disulfide bonds are broken, it results in damage. OLAPLEX restores damaged and compromised hair by repairing from the inside out with our patented single ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. Once all the bonds are intact and in alignment, you have healthy, beautiful, shiny, touchable hair.

Wellaplex Treatment

A bond builder that is added into lighteners. Wellaplex helps reduce hair damage and creates bonds within the hair while lightening or coloring. It has up to 97% less damage during the lifting process.
